Tzvi Says

Movie, Documentary

68 Minutes

Summary

The latest film by the esteemed director, producer, and actor Tzvi Shissel.
From his childhood in Tel Aviv until his passing, just a week after completing
the film, Tzvi Shissel reflects on his lifelong friendship and collaborative work
with his best friend, the legendary musician, actor and comedian Arik Einstein.
Shissel shares his story in his own voice, unveiling rare materials never
before seen.
At 22 years old, with little experience but plenty of confidence, Shissel created
films and TV works that have become foundational in Israeli culture. Upon
returning to Israel in 1987, Shissel and his best friend Arik embarked on a
journey through Tel Aviv and Israel, where they reminisced, laughed, and
shared insights about the years gone by and the evolving landscape of the
city and the country around them.
With materials never before seen, including home videos, archival materials,
behind-the-scenes footage, and more, Shissel tells his story for the first time –
going back to his childhood in Tel Aviv, to time spent on the beach and in the
sea, including reaching Abie Nathan's "Peace Ship" outside Israeli territorial
waters; legendary gatherings at "Avigdor's Shack," a well-known building that
stood on “Metzitzim Beach” (from one of his most famous movies by the same
name, an integral part of the mythology and landscape of Tel Aviv); his military
service in an army band; the formation of the mythical Lool ensemble;
Shissel's Hagar production company; and starting a family and aging,
alongside his creative work, production, singing, and acting in a tremendous
amount of material, up to his recent work.
