Fifty years after Giv'at Halfon Eina Ona (Halfon Hill Doesn't Answer) became an Israeli classic and a cornerstone of the country's cultural heritage, Giv'a 338 arrives in theaters—a brand-new, original comedy created as a tribute to the legendary film.
Directed by Erez Ben Harush, the film brings an original story, a fresh cast of characters, and plenty of uniquely Israeli humor to the big screen, while uniting, for the first time, some of the most beloved and recognizable names in Israeli entertainment.
Somewhere in the Jordan Valley, at the heart of the Syrian-African Rift, stands a small, forgotten military outpost that appears to have little strategic importance. When the Chinese government offers Israel an enormous sum of money to pave a renewed section of the modern Silk Road, all that seems necessary is to evacuate the base. To oversee the operation, Ran Shem Tov—a military "decommissioning officer" appointed "for operational efficiency and organizational reasons"—is sent to take command. What neither Ran nor the army's top brass knows is that beneath the base lies an old bunker whose original purpose has long been forgotten. Strange events begin unfolding there, repeatedly delaying the evacuation and ultimately forcing the soldiers to unite against both internal and external threats.
Hill 338 is an original, contemporary comedy inspired by Giv'at Halfon Eina Ona. It pays tribute to the spirit, humor, and uniquely Israeli absurdity that turned Assi Dayan's film and the iconic HaGashash HaHiver comedy trio into enduring cultural landmarks. While affectionately nodding to the classic, Giv'a 338 tells an entirely new story with new characters and a fresh perspective on modern Israeli reality.
The film was created by Erez Ben Harush (One on One), Ilan Rosenfeld (HaPijamot), Maya Sobol, Eyal After (Back of the Nation), and Lior Dayan.
The cast features Eli Yatzpan, returning to a leading role in a feature film for the first time in nearly four decades; Shahar Hasson in his feature film debut; Yael Polyakov, Kim Or Azulay, Avraham Arenson, Tal Friedman, Uri Gottlieb, Michael and Yishai Swissa, Meir Swissa, Shmuel Vilozny, Anat Atzmon, Idit Teperson, Noa Yatzpan, Eden Daniel Gabay, and many others.
