Summary

“The Collection” is a documentary film that tells the story of The
Phoenix’s Israeli art collection. Considered one of the most important
collections of Israeli painting of all time, the collection is valued at

over one billion NIS. It was established in the early 1970s at the
initiative of Yosef Hakmi, who was then the owner and CEO of The
Phoenix.
Hakmi, a brilliant and obsessive art collector, developed a deep
commitment and intense passion for Israeli art, transforming what
began as a personal obsession and became a lifelong endeavour. The Phoenix
Collection includes many of the artistic peaks of the various
movements in Israeli painting, featuring inspiring works by Israeli
artists active from the state's founding to the present day.
