Warriors

Documentary

1 Season, 3 Episodes

Summary

“Warriors” is a documentary series that confronts head-on a battle that is still being fought: women’s struggle to claim combat roles in the Israel Defense Forces — from the pre-state underground militias to the aftermath of the October 7 war.

The October 7 war placed women soldiers directly on the front lines. Yet long before the establishment of the IDF, women fought shoulder to shoulder with men — crowding into outposts and charging into battle. With the founding of the IDF, however, women were pushed away from combat positions and relegated to clerical roles. Since then, they have been fighting to return to stand alongside men in combat units.

Women have shattered glass ceilings, and through Supreme Court petition after petition — against the entrenched forces of religion, society, and the military establishment — they have carved their way back to bearing arms. Now, the most recent “Special Forces” Supreme Court ruling has determined that the IDF must allow women to qualify for elite units.

Is this the long-awaited victory in the war for equality?
Or merely a battle won — for now — in a male-dominated system where women will be forced to keep fighting?
